Connect the terms with the intended use

A home and business premises create different needs. Describe the agreed use, the spaces included and any planned works. Keep substantive verbal arrangements in the written agreement.

Clarify financial obligations

Check rent, payment method, adjustments, deposit and allocation of expenses. The deposit needs a clear description of its purpose and how it will be addressed at handover.

Record the condition of the premises

A handover record, with photographs and an agreed equipment inventory where useful, gives both parties a common reference. Clarify how defects will be reported and how repairs will be handled.

Check the agreement and electronic details

AADE provides an application for submitting, viewing and accepting declarations of lease information. Check that recorded details match what was agreed and keep the submission records. Coordinate tax-related steps with your accountant.
